Building Ireland's Healthcare Future:
The New National Children's Hospital
Daniel Mihoc Construction stands at the forefront of Ireland’s most ambitious healthcare development, working in partnership with industry leaders BAM Building and Jones Engineering to deliver the New National Children’s Hospital. This landmark €1.7 billion project represents not just Ireland’s largest healthcare infrastructure investment, but will establish one of the world’s leading pediatric facilities
A World-Class Healthcare Facility
The scale of this transformative project reflects its significance in Irish healthcare. The new hospital encompasses 160,000m² of advanced medical facilities across seven stories. Upon completion, it will serve more than 25% of Ireland's population, providing world-class pediatric care across 40+ medical disciplines. The facility includes over 6,150 rooms, carefully designed to create a healing environment for young patients and their families. Each of the 380 individual inpatient rooms features private en-suite facilities and dedicated parent accommodation, ensuring families can stay close to their children throughout their care journey.
Sustainable Construction Leadership
Daniel Mihoc Construction’s commitment to environmental excellence has contributed significantly to the project’s BREEAM Excellent design rating. Our sustainable construction approach integrates:
Advanced Environmental Systems
Working alongside Jones Engineering, we’re implementing sophisticated heating and cooling systems that maximize energy efficiency while maintaining strict medical environment standards. The building’s innovative design incorporates heat recovery technology and smart energy management solutions that set new benchmarks for sustainable healthcare facilities.
Therapeutic Environment Design
The project extends beyond traditional healthcare construction to create healing spaces that benefit patients, families, and staff. Four acres of therapeutic gardens and fourteen distinct courtyards promote natural light and ventilation, while over 400 trees enhance the landscape, creating a connection between healing and nature.
Innovation in Healthcare Construction
The facility showcases cutting-edge medical infrastructure, including:
- 22 state-of-the-art operating theaters designed for future medical advances
- 60 critical care beds with advanced monitoring systems
- 93 day beds in specially designed units
- Specialized diagnostic and treatment areas
